West Melbourne is in Florida, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and West Melbourne follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. Small but mighty inventory of native plants! Natural lawns are the best πŸ¦‹

I visited this nursery for the first time this weekend although I have bought plants from the before at festivals and such. Every plant I have ever got from them has thrived. The staff is also a wealth of information and very friendly. I can’t wait to go back and keep checking things off my native plant wishlist. Also, I sent an email while they were closed inquiring about a plant and they responded quickly with availability and pricing info.

I had trouble finding a nursery that had a particular plant I wanted. I finally called this one & spoke to Tim, who said he had plenty but would have to pull them from his nursery & bring them to this retail store, and he would have them for me Wednesday. I needed 24 of them. I drove over 40 miles and when I got here, they were awful looking. These plants looked like they had been in a field for a year, completely neglected. The roots were grown out through the bottom of the pots and covered in stuck on matted ALGAE. The leaves and buds were brown. I was very disappointed having driven so far and the teenager working there was not helpful at all & Tim was not there. I had decided to purchase them anyway, in hopes they can be revived once planted and the dead foliage cut back. No one offered to help load them on the cart or in my car. As I was loading them in my car, Tim finally showed up & I told him he should have told me they were not in good condition and I didn't appreciate driving so far for the plants in this bad shape. Instead of offering a discount, or apologizing, he said "Well, you didn't have to buy them" and walked away. After looking at all the plants he had there, I

I found NBF shortly after they opened for business in 2020 when I was just learning about landscaping with native plants. Tim and Anna are knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions for newbies through experienced native gardeners. The plant selection is plentiful and they are always looking to source new plants or grow them themselves. If you’re looking for plants to beautify your yard while feeding the butterflies, birds, bees, and other wildlife this is the place to shop. They have informational signs with the plants that let you know the native range, moisture requirements, light requirements, if it is a host plant, and probably some other stuff but I can’t remember right now. They also do landscape design, installs, and yard maintenance (pulling weeds and such).
